Carl, I never knew you personally even though we are relatives. You gave your life in order that I and others might enjoy the freedoms we have in this country. You have my deepest gratitude and appreciation for your service to our country. May God Bless and Keep you until we all see each other in Heaven.

Notes from The Virtual Wall

Platoon Sergeant Carl Palmer, a veteran of World War II, died in the fighting in the Ia Drang Valley, November 1965. He was characterized by one of his men as
"an excellent leader, diligent in his duty, and cared for his men. It was an honor to serve with him."
General Hal Moore takes note of PSgt Palmer's death on page 103 of "We were Soldiers Once - and Young".

PSgt Palmer is buried in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Pelham, Georgia.
