Notes from The Virtual WallPlatoon Sergeant Carl Palmer, a veteran of World War II, died in the fighting in the Ia Drang Valley, November 1965. He was characterized by one of his men as"an excellent leader, diligent in his duty, and cared for his men. It was an honor to serve with him."General Hal Moore takes note of PSgt Palmer's death on page 103 of "We were Soldiers Once - and Young". PSgt Palmer is buried in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Pelham, Georgia.
