Common terms: To avoid confusion, please use these common terms:

The Wall is the common nickname for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.

The name of this web site is The Virtual Wall (all 3 words). The Virtual Wall is a Proper Noun, like the name of a person or place, and is our US Registered Trademark.

A memorial page is one web page that honors a specific man or woman who died in Vietnam, for example, John A. Smith's memorial page. There are more than 58,260 memorial pages on The Virtual Wall.

A remembrance is one personal message left on a memorial page. There can be many remembrances on a memorial page.

We are rebuilding the software that operates The Virtual Wall and converting all memorial pages to the new format. During this change, we can not accept remembrances to add to memorial pages. If you would like to be notified when The Virtual Wall is fully operational again please send an empty email note to a computer program that will add your email address to the list. That program can't understand anything else you write.

While we are rebuilding our software, the unit index pages are temporarily not complete. In some cases some persons are missing from their unit listings and in some case whole units are missing. That condition is temporary.

If you can not find a name on The Virtual Wall or placed a remembrance on this web site before, but can't find it now, please see Name Not Found.

To report a change of your email address please send email to webmaster@VirtualWall.org with the name of the casualty in the subject line and then your name, your old email address, and your new email address in the body of the note.

While we are upgrading our software, we can still accept photographs. On a memorial page that is already in the new format (with a header like this page), we can add ONE photograph within about a week. We will hold other photographs until the time we can add them.
