A Note from The Virtual Wall

On 27 November 1968 UH-1C tail number 66-00611 was shot down over Thua Thien Province. Five men died in the incident:
  • HHB, 4th Bn, 77th Arty Rgt
    • WO John W. Brinkmeyer, New England, ND, pilot
    • LTC Roger J. Bartholomew, Portland, OR, copilot
    • SP5 Loren D. Martinsen, Red Bluff, CA, crew chief
    • SP4 Ernest L. Barber, Peoria, IL, gunner

  • HHB, Div Arty, 101 Abn Div
    • COL Edward B. Vogel, Interlaken, NJ
Colonel Vogel was Commanding Officer, 101st Airborne Division Artillery, and LTC Bartholomew was the Commanding Officer of the 4th Battalion (ARA), 77th Artillery.
