A Note from The Virtual Wall On 27 November 1968 UH-1C tail number 66-00611 was shot down over Thua Thien Province. Five men died in the incident: HHB, 4th Bn, 77th Arty Rgt WO John W. Brinkmeyer, New England, ND, pilot LTC Roger J. Bartholomew, Portland, OR, copilot SP5 Loren D. Martinsen, Red Bluff, CA, crew chief SP4 Ernest L. Barber, Peoria, IL, gunner HHB, Div Arty, 101 Abn Div COL Edward B. Vogel, Interlaken, NJ Colonel Vogel was Commanding Officer, 101st Airborne Division Artillery, and LTC Bartholomew was the Commanding Officer of the 4th Battalion (ARA), 77th Artillery.
