Lt Manners attended Officer Training School in San Antonio, Texas in 1966 with
his first follow on assignment to Moody Air Force Base, Georgia. At Moody, he took parachute and pilots training,
graduating April 5, 1968, from the 3552nd Pilot Training Squadron School (Patch below). He had a wife, Sally.
1Lt Manners was the Co-Pilot for the C-7B Caribou (#62-4177)
when it was hit by hostile ground fire in the starboard wing as it was flying close to the Cambodian border
on an airlift flight, about 10 miles southwest of An Loc, Vietnam.
