Marshall Isbell was drafted into service. Following training as a combat infantryman, he was assigned to the 35th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division.

On 22 April 1967 his unit was involved in action in Quang Ngai Province, South Vietnam, where he received fatal gunshot wounds.

Private First Class Marshall H. Isbell returned to Stephens County for burial with full military honors. He is remembered and honored by his community and by his comrades in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Leon Williams Post 4346, Toccoa, Stephens County, Georgia.

Stephens County, Georgia, lost eight of its sons in Vietnam.
