This one's for you, Bro. We never did get to do R&R together. Manila would have been more fun with you. Never have forgotten you ... have a special dog tag made with your name on it. That was one hellava fire fight we walked into that day. For a while there we all thought we had bought the farm. So much to say and so little space ... I'll just have to wait till I join you on the other side. Til then, Bro ... Semper Fi!!!
From a Squad Mate, |
Dan, I know you've been gone a long time. I used to write to you when you were in Nam and I was a Senior in High School. My brother, Charles Trinemeyer, gave me your name. When you finally met your Commander in the Sky, I was devastated. I just couldn't believe it. I took all your letters and pictures to your funeral and let your parents read and make copies of them. My brother wrote and told me how you were ambushed and told me how you went out fighting like a true Marine. My father, a reired Marine, came with me. Your family really loved you and I know still miss you. I joined the Marines after I graduated. I stay involved in the Marine Corps League and various other military organizations. For quite a few years I owned an engraving business and engraved dog tags and bracelets for the MIA/KIA/POW's from the various wars and raised money for these organizations. My brother passed away... but he never forgot you... and neither will I.
