What Veteran's Day means to me...

I think Veterans Day is an emotional time to those people that have lost loved ones in war. My great grandma is one of those who have lost loved ones in war. She lost her son, and when they had the funeral her husband (my great grandpa) wouldn't even let my great grandma see her son's body because the body was so bad. Also every year my great grandma and I are in the Beach City Veterans Day Parade.

Did you ever notice when someone is talking to you or when you're talking to grandparents about when they were in the war, that they get real involved or tears come to their eyes because in the war it was so scary?

I think kids should have a day off from school on Veteran's Day because for some families Veterans Day could be a traditional day to go to the cemetary. I think Veteran's Day is a cool, special and a very good holiday.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

On the night of 05 September 1968, a UH-1C (tail number 65-09511) of the 117th Assault Helicopter Company was conducting a close air support fire mission between Saigon and Can Giouc. The aircraft was hit by enemy fire and crashed. Two of the four-man crew died when the aircraft's on-board ordnance exploded in the crash:
  • CPT Alexander Johnson, Jr., pilot, and
  • SP4 Terry Chip Welty, gunner
