I never got to meet David although I was only 10 feet from him when he was killed and I helped to load his body on the medevac. He was on temporary duty from the battalion headquarters to 3rd Platoon and was with us for about 3 hours. He had the bad luck to go out with us when we were in one the worst firefights in months. We walked into an NVA Base Camp on Mothers' Day 1969. It might have taken years to discover his name, but he was still one of us and will not be forgotten. His name is read aloud at each Bravo Co reunion and his name is on our company memorial. Rest in Peace, Brother.
