I still remember that day after 36 years and the great sadness of it all...
From a fellow Marine |
This was not only my brother, but the best friend I have ever had. I am 50 years old now, and at the time of Buddy's death, I was 13 years old. At that time I lost all faith, and could not understand, to this day I still don't understand. Our mother is still living, and when I pulled this up, looked and read it, the tears just fell, as if it had happened yesterday, I had to send the link to my mom's e-mail address, and also had to get on the phone right away to let her know about it. Our Dad has passed away, and to the day he passed, you could feel the hurt in his heart from losing his son. Well, we figure Daddy and Buddy are back together again, probably sitting up there drinking a beer together. This is the greatest thing I have ever come upon. I have searched before for information that would lead me to some type of healing. I can remember when I was young, I use to wish I was there with him, I felt I could protect him. I now have an extra bedroom in my home which has been set up as a computer/office, in it hangs one of his Marine shirts with his picture attached.
