Art, from the time we met in flight school, you were "Hell on Wheels" and you went down living up to that! You died doing what you loved best and you are missed by all who knew you.

Captain Tomaschek,

Glad to have known you during the time we served together beginning Feb 1969. I have only respect for your memory and your service to our country.

Art was my Ranger Buddy in OCS. The only thing we had in common was that our names were next to each other in the alphabet. He was a Green Beret, I was a Joe College just out of the University of Georgia who was drafted and ended up in OCS. He was a good friend and we were very close. I miss him. He would come by where I was when he was in transit. I visited him at Arlington.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

On 01 Sep 1971 an AH-1G Cobra (tail number 68-15041) from H Troop, 16th Cavalry, failed to pull out after a weapons run against a bunker complex south of Fire Support Base Mace, killing the two crewmen:
  • CPT Larry J. Kluever, Washington, DC, pilot, and
  • CPT Arthur Tomaschek, Allentown, PA, copilot.
