A Note from The Virtual Wall The book and movie We Were Soldiers Once - and Young made the 7th Cavalry's November 1965 fight in the Ia Drang Vally well known to Americans - but the 1st Cavalry Division's losses in the Ia Drang neither began nor ended with that battle. On 02 August 1966, A Company, 2/7th Cavalry, was back in the Valley for Operation PAUL REVERE II.
