He was my father who I now wish I had been able to know as a man. He died in '67 in Phan Rang, I was 14 then. In that he divorced when I was 5, my memories of him are blurred . . . I knew him only during a few summers and when he was on leave. Now as I get older (at age 51) it pulls at me that I didn't know what he was about - "man to man" - to know of his style, character, and leadership. He was married 3 times, was perhaps a "player" (I remember a bit of booze and sports too), but hell that goes without judgement. I just too often wonder if he ran shallow or deep and what he represented to others.

The 101st is huge . . . I know he was perhaps in the 1st Brigade 501st PIR or ? (I need to know that too) I remember Fort Richardson and Fort Benning for sure, and Fort Campbell perhaps, he's buried at Fort Riley. Anyone who might have served with or remember him I'd love to hear from.

Thanks to all of you who served . . .
