Gary Stading was a friend and competitor (track) who I met half way through 9th grade at Orange High School, Ca. Finding him in the Platoon I was assigned to in A Company, 1-6 Infantry, at Fort Hood, Texas in 1967 was great. He made it easy for this new Lieutenant to break into the unit. I could not put over nothing but the truth with the Gunfighters in Gary's presence. The Gunfighters of Alpha 1/6 lost a part of our souls when we lost Gary. He will always be remembered.
