What may we say about a fallen hero?

We know you protected those that served under you. I was deeply affected by your death. A two-tour short timer ready to go home. That morning is etched in memory. I was supposed to reenlist that day and get my 3rd Chevron. But, with the death of a friend, the war and the Corps lost the attraction for me. I've often wondered over the years how we two friends and "Sergeants" would have fared? We had some good times and a couple of bad ones too. But we were friends and comrades in arms and I miss that.

To a brother that was deeply loved and is deeply missed.

I knew you for six years of my life. I have some memories of you, but I know you only by stories that were told to me.

To the best brother a sister could ever have.

I knew you for 25 years, because I was your older sister. We sure had some good times and we had our bad times, but you were the greatest brother and I loved you so very much. I will cherish the memories of you forever and always. Those precious memories will I hold in my heart ever so dear. I sure miss my brother and wish I still had him with me. When the sadness and lonliness for him comes I just start remembering the wonderful times and life we had and shared with our Mother, Dad, and Sisters. We had a wonderful life together, because we had love.

My dearest brother,

You are so loved by your sisters, even by those who didn't know you for long. We all miss you very much, but know that you had a duty to do. We hope to see you when we go and draw our last breath on this earth. Just know that you may be gone from us here but you will never be forgotten in our hearts.

Your loving sister,
Betty (Buggar) Ford
