Johnny was my big brother and so very special to me. Even if he was 6 years older than me he still didn't get too upset when I tagged along with him. He loved to hunt and trap. He was only 21 when he was killed. He wanted to celebrate his 21st birthday at home. He was supposed to report for duty to head to Viet Nam on the 12th of October 1969. His birthday was October 15th. He stayed home just so he could celebrate his birthday and I'm so glad he had that memory to take with him into the hostile place he was killed in. Johnny is truely missed by all his family, even the ones that were born after his death. I have tried to raise my own children to appreciate their uncle that they never knew. I'm proud of my brother and all service men and women who fight for our country whether we believe in what we are fighting for or not.
