Joe Henry was a resident of Marfa, Texas, the first of three to die in Vietnam from this small town in the "Big Bend Country" of West Texas. He was married and the father of a son. He had served in the Marine Corps for 14 years at the time of his death. He died from wounds suffered from a gunshot wound in hostile action. He is remembered by his community and by the Permian Basin Vietnam Veterans' Memorial located in Midland, Texas. May his sacrifice not be forgotten.
