Trippy, I still think of you often. I have a picture on my desk of you, Happy and Frannie taken in the summer of 1960. You had on your jaunty little hat. I remember seeing you in boot camp. You were in your 2nd week and I was in my 2nd to last week. Then my grandmother found out where you were in Nam and wrote me. I saw you at Cam Lo around the beginning of September. A month later I returned from R&R and in my stack of mail was the letter from my grandmother with your obituary. Quasimodo little buddy, Bob

Dear Trippy, I never had the privilege of knowing you. But I will never forget the pain etched on your sister Sandy's face after your death. You must have been a terrific brother and son, as well as Marine. As much as we tried to empathize with her loss, I understand more deeply now that I have two sons in the Military. Hopefully, the one currently in Iraq will come home safely. I just want you to know that we pray for, and share in the pride and sorrow, of your family, as well as all those who have lost loved ones while serving their Country. Please ask God to grant us peace.
Most gratefully, |
