A Note from The Virtual Wall

Warrant Officer John Rizzo went through flight training at Fort Wolters and Fort Rucker in flight class 69-1, receiving his wings on 11 March 1969. He and two other men of A Company, 101st Avn Bn, died when their UH-1H Huey (tail number 67-17349) was shot down:
  • WO1 John Michael Rizzo, Jr, pilot
  • SP5 Clarence S. Turner III, gunner
  • SP4 Gerald Lee Schwuchow, crew chief
