A Note from The Virtual Wall

At about 1300 on the afternoon of 05 June 1969, A and C Companies of the 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry, engaged a large enemy force in fortified positions northwest of Trung Lap. Supporting fires, both artillery and air, were called in to reduce the fortifications, but one Huey gunship was shot down and three armored personnel carriers were destroyed in the fighting. By day's end, six men from the 5th Infantry and four men from the Huey were dead:
