A Note from The Virtual WallOn 18 June 1967 Battalion Landing Team 2/3 conducted an amphibious and airborne assault on the northern end of a barrier island about 10 kilometers southeast of Hoi An. Although the initial landings were unopposed, at noontime Hotel 2/3 engaged an enemy force of some 100 men. The enemy troops held their positions through the afternoon until forced from them by the combined efforts of Hotel 2/3 and Fox 2/3. Five Marines and one sailor died in the fighting:
