The database page for Roberto Perez
Corporal Roberto Perez was from the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. Back home we refer to it as "el valle de Tejas". I am from Harlingen, Texas, 18 miles south of Weslaco where Corporal Perez was from. I wish I could have met him in Vietnam. We were in the same area in Quang Ngai Province. Probably about the same distance apart from our hometowns. There were few Chicanos at the time in the Corps, that is why I think it would have been easy to meet over there. He was a mortarman and I am sure a good one. He served honorably and died gallantly on the field of battle. A true Marine, a hero. May he rest in peace.
