Mr. Nicklas, I never knew you as my dad did. But he told me stories of the man who was a paperboy who would would have snowball fights with my father and his friends, his huge hands crafting ice balls of what seemed to be epic porportions. He told of me your death, drawing fire away from a helicopter. Sacrificing yourself for others. I will never know what you thought of Vietnam, but I want to thank you and every other veteran. |
died in the fighting in the Ia Drang Valley November 1965.
