A Note from The Virtual Wall

Kenneth A. Kubik served two tours in Vietnam as an enlisted Marine before gaining his commission through Officer Candidate School. During those two tours he was twice wounded. He returned to Vietnam for a third tour on 17 October 1969 and was assigned as a Platoon Leader in the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion.

Five days later, on 22 October, Charlie Company, 1st Recon, lost three men killed in action:

  • 2ndLt Kenneth A. Kubik, Hollywood, FL (Silver Star)
  • Pfc Timothy C. Robinson, Kalispell, MT
  • HN Richard W. Yates, USN, Quantico, VA
