3/5/67: You, Tim Lynah, Ken Wells, and Reggie Morse all crashed. We know you are in a better place then we are, but we miss you still. You will be on our minds as long as we live and as long as our familes continue to survive.
Pray for your living brothers today, Hamp. Have everyone pray. We are facing another war here on your old planet ... and Vietnam is coming back to haunt your old friends and brothers. It's a sad and worrisome time. Keep us in your thoughts as we keep you and the crew in ours. |
Mission NotesFour men of the 129th Assault Helicopter Company died when their UH-1D (tail number 66-00986) hit overhead power lines and crashed into the Saigon river while flying a night mission in bad weather. The incident is recorded in "Wings for the Valiant", page 163.
