Kenith was from Odessa, Texas, an oil-field town in West Texas. He attended Permian High School and dropped out before graduation to go into the Marines.

He was one of 45 Ector County, Texas-Vietnam casualties. These are those that listed Odessa, Texas as their home of record. On the Permian Basin Vietnam Memorial at Midland International Airport, there are almost 60 names for Odessa. At the time that Kenith was killed Odessa was a city of about 50,000 people and with 45 to 60 people killed, this represented a huge sacrifice. Odessa had two Medal of Honor Winners in Vietnam, Alfred Mac Wilson, a fellow Marine, and Marvin Rex Young, U.S. Army 25th Infantry Division.

Kenith is not forgotten. His name is on the memorial at the Ector County Cemetery, the memorial at the Ector County Courthouse and as stated the Permian Basin Vietnam Memorial.

Kenith is a first cousin to Randall David Jarrell. Both were from Odessa, Texas; both were 19 when they were killed. Their fathers are brothers and now live near each other in Lafayette, Alabama.

Both men are remembered on the Permian Basin Vietnam Veterans' Memorial.
