Guy was my younger brother. He was a kind, caring, very giving young man. He felt strongly about what he was doing in Vietnam. His mission was to rescue. When he died, Guy had just become an Uncle. His nephew, Eric, was born February 12, 1969. Guy and Eric never had a chance to meet. Eric's father was also serving in Vietnam at the time of Eric's birth. When we received the news of Guy's death, my Mother requested that my husband bring Guy's body home. Both Guy and my husband are gone now ... both crossing the Rainbow Bridge to greener fields and gentler times. There is still a large void in my life where Guy used to be. A void that will never be filled, as he was my only sibling. Here's to Guy and all the other brave souls who lost their lives so that ours might be better. May you all be flying with the angels. Love you, brother.

Guy Johnson was my uncle. I was never given the pleasure of meeting the man. But from the stories I have uncovered, and from the accounts of those who knew him, the world was lucky to have him. Although he died trying to rescue the lives of others, without even knowing him, I can say he does not regret it, and would do it again. I do feel that he would have died ten deaths if it meant that those who died with him could live. I am proud to be of the same blood line that produced such an unselfish, honorable, strong, and yet caring man. I hope that if anyone reads this and can offer some additional insight into my uncle's life, it would truly validate my life and finally give his mother some peace. My Grandmother, Guy's mother, loved him so, and his death pains her to this day. 38 years after his death, he is well remembered and loved.
