My aunt went to Washington D.C. on a trip, so I asked her to go to the Wall and get a rubbing of the first name that popped out at her, and that name was of CWO Ben H. Ide. After she sent me the name she got for me I looked up his information. I greatly cherish the rubbing of CWO Ben H. Ide and give thanks to him for the sacrifice he made.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

On 19 Dec 1968 an AH-1G Cobra (tail number AH-1G 67-15605) from the 361st Aviation Company was shot down while on an armed reconnaissance mission. Although both crewmen were recovered by a UH-1 from the 170th AHC, Chief Warrant Officer Ide was dead when picked up. His crewmate, Warrant Officer Paul D. Renner, survived the incident.
