Lloyd Hyde was my college roommate at Indiana University in 1960. We were members of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Lloyd was the kindest and most gentle of our classmates. Still, he was a gifted athlete and was a member of our Little 500 bike team. I visited his grave in Evansville, Indiana, some years ago and recalled with great heartache the loss of my good friend. I lost track of his sister and parents and understand that his widow Pat [Scott] Hyde passed away a few years ago. He was also survived by a son. I would love to hear from his son or sister.

A Note from The Virtual WallLieutenant Hyde was the Air Wing Flight Surgeon for Carrier Air Wing 16 embarked in USS ORISKANY. On 26 October 1966 ORISKANY endured a major shipboard fire which killed 44 officers and crewmen and injured many more. The ship steamed to Subic Bay in the Philippines for temporary repairs before continuing on to the United States for permanent repairs. Eight months later she was again conducting operations off North Vietnam.
