Sergeant Horn is mentioned in Barry Sadler's song "I'm a Lucky One":

"I'll hear Vrba, Young, and Horn laugh again out loud ..."

In Sergeant Sadler's autobiography (also entitled "I'm a Lucky One"), there is more about Sgt. Horn, including a picture.

I thank Sergeant Horn (whom I never met) -- he gave his all that I might live free.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

While only Sergeant Sadler knows for sure, the other two men mentioned in the phrase "I'll hear Vrba, Young, and Horn laugh again out loud ..." probably are
  • Staff Sergeant Raymond J Vrba, killed in action at Detachment A-222 (Dong Tre, Phu Yen Province) on 25 May 1965, and
  • Staff Sergeant Horace E Young, killed in action at Detachment B-34 (Song Be, Phuoc Long Province) on 11 May 1965.
