A Note from The Virtual Wall

On 28 June 1967 the 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry, engaged the 93rd VC Battalion near the Dam Tra-O Lake 16 kilometers southeast of Bong Son in what came to be known as the battle of An Quang. Eight US soldiers were killed in the fighting and a ninth died the following day from wounds sustained. They were

Although 1st Bn, 69th Armor was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division, 1/69's tanks were in considerable demand by other units. In this instance, A Company 1/69 was attached to the 1st Cavalry Division. Sergeant Hale was killed by a sniper's bullet.
