A Note from The Virtual Wall

Operation MASTIFF, conducted in the Boi Loi Woods five miles south of the Michelin Rubber Planatation in Tay Ninh Province between 21 and 27 Feb 1966, was intended to locate and destroy VC infrastructure, supplies, and forces in the area. While successful in those respects, it was costly in terms of US losses - 19 US soldiers were killed in a number of separate engagements. SP4 Cooper was one of six men lost from the 2nd Bn, 18th Infantry.
