My Dad was 19 when he died. I was only 5 months old. I'm 38 now. He was a young man who wanted to prove himself. He believed in trying to help others. He had a dimple when he smiled. I have that dimple, I have his eyes and the same tilt of the head. And I have his belief in trying to make the world a better place. For everything he gifted me, I am incredibly grateful. A Note from The Virtual WallAvailable information indicates Pfc Arthur Clough was wounded in action on 04 Feb 1970 by a mine or booby-trap, and died of his wounds fourteen days later on 18 Feb. If the date wounded is accurate, the following exerpt from the 2/26's Operations Log reflects the incident in which he was wounded:
"At 4:30 PM on 4 Feb, word was received that at 2:10 PM the 3rd Squad, 3rd Platoon, H Company, while conducting a sweep in an area of recent enemy activity, detonated a booby trap wounding four Marines. One was a priority medevac, two were routine medevacs, and one had minor injuries treated locally." |
