Billy Bull was a very close cousin of mine. We were born and raised in the same town, in Iowa. We went to the same junior high and high school together. We also spent many summers together walking soy bean fields. He was fun to be with! He always had a devilish, little boy smile. He had a 1957 Chevy and I bought that car from him when I turned 16, after he had bought a new Plymouth Roadrunner. Of course, I loved ridng around town with him in his Roadrunner. It was a hot car back then! My family still misses Billy, and wonder what sort of man he would have grown to be. Billy is gone, but he will never be forgotten.

Thank You,

I was Billy's friend. As far as I know I was the first friend to drive the Road Runner after he brought it into town. I also beat Billy in a drag race between my 1958 Chev and his '57 one night.

I've twice visited his name at the memorial in DC and once brought back his name to Irene Davis.

His Road Runner was special to him and now to me. I visited the car just this summer. It is covered in dust and has not been driven for about 20 - 25 years. It has 85K on the speedometer! The owner wants to restore it.

I visit Billy's grave several times a year and have wondered if I am the only visitor. Glad to know he is not alone.

Thank you for this memorial.

From a friend,
Gary Dooley
