I went to high school with Billy. I guess he was my first love. I moved to Alabama shortly after he left to go to Vietnam. My mom sent me a newspaper clipping about his death. His mom got his Silver Star. I never forgot him, he was only 19. After all these years, thinking of him and the sacrifice he made brings tears to my eyes. I feel I owe him so much, as I do the others who bravely gave all for all of us. I wonder if he would be proud of me now. I wonder what he would have done with his life. He was one of the good guys. He was my friend.
