Captain Belcher saved my life. He took me out of an infantry company, Company A, 3d Battalion, 21st Infantry and assigned me to S-1. I would like to tell his wife and his children that I would not have survived Viet Nam had it not been for him.

Roland A. Belcher was an ROTC classmate of mine at West Virginia State College, Institute, WV, 1959-'62. We were also on the College Swimming Team and won the WVIAC Championship in '60 and '62. He was an outstanding ROTC cadet and a well-liked student on campus. Even now at Homecoming someone always brings up his name. He is listed on a Memorial Plaque on the campus for ROTC graduates killed in action. He is sorely missed.
From a friend and college classmate, |
