Mobile Riverine Force
TF 117

Barry arrived in-country in July 1968. Shortly afterwards he and his crew outfitted their new Armored Troop Carrier. The war in the Mekong Delta was going strong. Barry's boat, T-152-10, and the T-152-1 boat were cut from the main squadron to work out of a small Vietnamese Naval Base at Rach Soi. While there the boats alternated night patrols. After several weeks T-152-10 was ambushed. Four rocket propelled grenades took their toll. Barry was hit by one and several of the crew were wounded. It was a sad time for all of us. Barry was not an extremely popular young man, but he did his job well. He is still missed after all of these years.
