The photo and following article appeared on October 26,1987, in The Philadelphia Daily News. The special supplement entitled 'SIX HUNDRED AND THIRTY' honored Philadelphia's 630 fallen heroes in conjunction with the dedication of the Philadelphia Viet Nam Memorial.

The 21-year-old Marine combat rifleman worked as a dishwasher after graduating from Benjamin Franklin High School. He joined the Marines in April 1965, and was assigned to Company D, 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division, in Viet Nam. Baker died on March 19, 1967, in Quang Tri Province during Operation Prairie II. The lance corporal was survived by his parents.
