Bill was my childhood best friend. When I joined the Army in 1966 I lost touch with him. While I was stationed in Germany in 1968 my mother wrote to me that he had joined the Marines and had died in Vietnam. I went to Vietnam myself in 1969.

I miss my buddy dearly after all these years and I would like to make contact with his sister and mother if at all possible. His sister's name is Star Ella and his mother is Dorothy.

Thank you.

Bill Atwell served with me on my M60 Machine Gun Team in Vietnam, Bill was my A-Gunner.

Bill was "Wounded in Action" on June 12, 1968.

I last saw Bill in a hospital in Japan on July 1, 1968.

I found out November 1999 (31 years later) that Bill had died from his wounds in the Japan hospital on July 27, 1968 (27 days after I last seen him).

It was an "HONOR" to have served with, and know Bill.

I will keep his memory alive for the rest of my life...

Semper Fi,
Bruce Bley
