The following article is taken from The Philadelphia Daily News, special supplement entitled 'SIX HUNDRED AND THIRTY,' October 26, 1987. The special supplement was issued in conjunction with the dedication of the Philadelphia Viet Nam Memorial.
One of 10 children, Alberts attended Roxborough High School and worked on boats in Villas, NJ, before deciding to make a career of the Army. He was stationed in Germany before being assigned to Company B of the 2nd Battalion, 8th Calvary, 1st Calvary Division (Airmobile), in Viet Nam. The 28-year-old sergeant died on August 27, 1966, in Quang Tri Province. Alberts was survived by his wife, son, parents, seven brothers and two sisters.

SGT Francis J. Alberts is listed from Villas, NJ, but claimed as one of Philadelphia's own on the Philadelphia Viet Nam Memorial.
