The Wall

His name is on the Wall
I found it on panel thirteen
The panels were black and tall
His name was not easily seen

I counted the lines, one by one
Until I came to the right line
I was relieved when it was done
I was going to visit The Wall, rain or shine

His name I etched on a small paper
I had some in my pocket
Carefully getting every last letter
The grooves of each line were a deep socket

I remember Vicente very well
Although it's been over thirty years
I bet his family misses him still
Because I know nothing can replace the tears
