Though I was a clueless Pfc your example as a Sergeant of Marines taught me how to be towards my subordinates: fair but tough! I eventually recovered from my most of my external wounds. The unseen ones, I have yet to be overcome. You gave your all so that we wouldn't "have to." If only for that those of us who served with you are beholden to you and personally know the measure of a man you are. I say "are" in the present tense, because yet you live is us who remain! Sooner now than later I know we will meet again to "guard the streets'. Semper Fidelis.
