The database page for David Hugh Whitehill
David Whitehill was flying an A-37 as escort to a C-123 RANCH HAND spray aircraft near Rang Rang, 30-some miles northeast of Bien Hoa. When the C-123 came under fire, Whitehill attacked the gun position. On his third pass he apparently was hit by ground fire - he failed to pull out and crashed near the gun site. We haven't forgotten him.
