A Note from The Virtual Wall

Operation MAMELUKE THRUST began on 18 May 1968. On 19 May the 1st Bn, 7th Marines was conducting a battalion sweep along the northern bank of the Vu Gia River when they engaged an NVA force. The ensuing fight lasted several hours and resulted in 12 US and 46 enemy dead. The 12 US were
