I had the privilege to serve with Donald Voget at Fort Benning Georgia in 1970 where we trained to become NCO (Non Commissioned Officers) Indirect Fire Infantrymen.

After our training both Don and I got our orders for Vietnam. Donald was sent to the demilitaried zone in North Vietnam and I ended up in Central Highlands of Vietnam.

It was there that I learned that Donald had been killed in action. I know in my heart that Donald fought bravely to the bitter end. Donald did not die in vain. Donald died for his country's honor, for the freedoms and peace that we Americans value so much. He died to keep our country safe from communist threats.

I find solace knowing that Donald and the rest of our soldiers who gave their all in Vietnam made the ultimate sacrifice for the betterment of our country. They gave their lives for their country defending our way of life and to try to help their fellow Asian man enjoy these same rights. They will always be remembered for having the courage and the guts to serve our country in a most unpopular war. God bless Donald, God bless our Veterans and God bless America.
