My dad was killed when I was just 2 years old, and even though I didn't know him my mom has told me a lot about him and she even kept his letters. He was a funny man who was always happy. He loved his family and he loved his Country. I Miss You Daddy!

A Note from The Virtual Wall

Late in 1967 an additional rifle company was added to the 4th Bn, 9th Infantry. Since the Battalion Commander did not want the new Delta Company to be made up solely of replacements, experienced troops were moved from Alpha and Bravo Companies. Sergeant Tommy R. Thompson was shifted from Bravo 4/9 to Delta 4/9.

On 02 Dec 1967 the Battalion lost three men, two from Delta and one from Bravo:

  • SGT Tommy R. Thompson, Akron, OH, Delta 4/9
  • CPL George L. Duplessis, New Orleans, LA, Bravo 4/9
  • SP4 John H. Mann, Mountain View, GA, Delta 4/9

All three men are remembered by their brothers on the
9th Inf - the Manchus
