Medford Marine Dies of Wounds Suffered in War
Marine Pfc. John Harold Teetor, 19, son of Mrs. Elinor L. Teetor, 430 O'Gara St., Medford, and Howard Teetor Sr. (deceased) died 1 May (1968) at the U.S. Air Force Hospital at Clark Air Force Base, The Philippines, from wounds suffered 26 Apr (1968) in Quang Tri Province, Vietnam.
Pfc. Teetor suffered multiple fragmentation wounds while on patrol. He was with Company B, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines, 3rd Marine Division.
He was born 7 Apr 1949 in Hancock NY. He attended school in Ft. Wayne IN and graduated from Medford Senior High School in 1967. Pfc. Teetor enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps 19 Jun 1967, and arrived in Vietnam October, 1967.
Active in Judo, his hobbies included mountain climbing, hunting and fishing. Pfc. Teetor grained the green belt rank in judo of the American Judo and Jujisu Federation.
In addition to his mother, survivors included his sister, Mrs. Rosemary Smrkovsky, Portland, and three half-brothers, Will Robert Teetor, Ithaca NY, Jack C. Teetor, Hancock NY, and Howard A. Teetor Jr., Windsor NY.
