A Note from The Virtual Wall

The 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Operations Log for 20 June 1970 identifies Private Stoppleworth by name and describes his death in following entry:
"0915 - B Co ... One aircraft was at flight idle in the pick-up zone when subject individual [Stoppleworth] ran out of the wood line directly into the main rotor blade. Body is being taken to B Med at FSB Buttons."
The accident occurred just within Cambodia about 14 kilometers west-northwest of Djamap Airfield, or about 33 kilometers north of Phuoc Binh (aka Song Be).
