Thomas David Stone is on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Panel 18W Line 009.

I came into your world shortly after you left this earth. I was a new LT at Fort Knox, and was assigned the noble duty of escorting you home from Oakland, California, and assisting your family with the funeral. It was my honor and forever my privilege to have served as your escort on the final march back to Ohio. Tom, although we'd never met I feel I know so much about you. The few days spent with your parents and lovely wife is forever imbedded in me. I don't know the circumstances of your death, but I do vividly recall the profound loss and obvious widespread love that accompanied your burial. You left behind many wonderful people who I know still miss you deeply today. A man cannot ask for more of a monument. Though you left us too soon, you are not really gone. May God forever reward you for your sacrifice, and bless your family.

A memorial initiated by a fellow officer,
